• What matters most on this trip is flying from Kenya into Thailand: Thailand requires an international yellow fever certificate from anyone arriving from a risk area, and Kenya is on that list.

📷 Photography in practice
- Lens: a phone is fine for landscapes, but bring a telephoto or a camera with decent reach for animals
- Power: long days in the vehicle — bring a power bank, car charger cable and spare batteries
- Dust: it gets thick. Stow the lens in a dust bag when not shooting and clean it with a blower at night
- Clothing: khaki, beige, olive and brown work best. Black and dark blue absorb heat and may attract tsetse flies
- Framing: don't ask the driver to move closer or detour for a shot — the driver and rangers decide all distances (full wildlife rules are in Safety Notes)

🥤 Stomach & water rules

- Bring stomach medicine, electrolyte powder, probiotics, anti-diarrhoeals and your own prescriptions
- Long drives on safari — keep motion-sickness pills in your day pack
- Dawn game drives are cold and midday is fierce — bring both a jacket and sunscreen
🏥 Book a travel medicine appointment 6–8 weeks before departure, and finish the yellow fever shot before its 10-day validity window. Malaria tablets also need to start on a schedule depending on the drug.
